First Aid Kit For Urban Travel

A first aid kit is like a pair of fat-pants. You hope you never have to use them, but it is nice to know that they are there in case you need them.

Traveling exposes your body and mind to experiences that you are not used to. It should, otherwise what is the point of traveling? When things do not always agree with your body, you need your first aid kit.

I have had a first aid kit since the first time I traveled abroad. I have used something from it on every single trip. When you live in India you do not realize how cheap and accessible medication is. We have a drug store on every corner in any major town.

Yet Another Post On The Perks Of Being A Solo Traveler

The greatest part of my failed attempt to travel around India for a year was the 17 days I spent traveling Gujarat in the summer of 2014. Subramanian, my friend from college was pursuing his post graduation at SVNIT in the diamond city of Surat and was kind enough to let me bunk with him for a few nights.

Given that this was the first time during the trip that I would be actively traveling alone into uncharted territory, I decided to leave my car, Matilda, in the campus and backpack around Gujarat.

As I boarded the bus from Surat to Bhuj in the Kutch district with a packet of Thepla, a generous gift from Subramanian, I had no idea as to how much of an adventure the trip was going to be.

Your Averages Matter, Not Just Your Peaks

If you have been practicing any skill set, you get it when I tell you how there are peak performance days and just average days.

For instance if you are into body building, you know how some days you can beat the shit out of that iron, while there are days where you can’t move that iron.
