Last day while returning home from Cochin, I met this guy, Shine. He is from my neighbourhood, I knew him for about 3 years. He was running his own PCB (Printed Circuit Board) manufacturing unit near my home.

He had about a dozen employees and was running it pretty well. However, when I tried contacting him for my college project last January, he was gone. I went to his factory, and it was closed down. I was told that he had to close down cuz of some sales tax issues.

While in the Bus and while walking home on foot, we talked about various stuffs, photography, travel, marriage, radio and everything. He was passionate about all the things he told me.

When it was time to take the turn to my home, we said good byes. He walked away. I stood there watching him for a while and I felt something heavy inside me. It was nothing but the respect to a person who took the road uncommon, walked the ways his heart took him. He is an example of a true Entrepreneur. He is 39, and he is not a quitter.

It doesn’t matter where he reach, the journey is the reward.

When we are screwed up, we find explanations to console ourselves. At least I do.

The following are some of my favourite explanations which I use depending on the demand of the situation. I don’t care if they are right or wrong, I just feel better when I think this way.

Time You Enjoyed Wasting was Not Wasted at All

I found this from a tweet of @JerryJose7. Here is the deal. I get 30 days of study leave, I spend the first 25 days tweeting and blogging and when I wake up on day 26, I need something to console myself with. This is the perfect one.

Do Not be Afraid of Progressing slowly; Be Afraid of Standing still.

When I do not make any progress after a day, say with studies or with any other projects, I use this. I picked up this from @raj241071 at BarCamp Kerala 5 from his talk. (see, attending BarCamps is a good idea).

If it ain’t fun, It’s not worth doing at all

This comes handy when I have to give up stuffs that I had an opportunity to do. Helps me not be brood over a lost opportunity and smooths me after a big NO.

You are not Supposed to do Anything, You do it because you Love it.

Ah.. One of my favorites. From the video The Secret. This is how the video ends. Right from the birth the society expects us to do certain things. This one clarifies everything.

If you ask, you might be a fool for 5 minutes, otherwise you would be a Fool for ever

Those are not the exact words, but that’s how I conceive it. I don’t have any problems with asking questions, anywhere in the world. But sometimes when they go wrong and I get humiliated, I need something to cheer me up.

I am used to humiliation, so its not a big deal now. Still, it make into the list.

For the greater good

When things don’t come my way, this thought is an instant relief. Most of the times, they don’t work the way we planned, but everything turns out well. For the greater good.

Lessons from the Steve Jobs’ Speech

This speech of Steve Jobs is the most inspiring speech I have ever heard. Its up here, the lessons from the speech, esp. the one that says our time is limited is a source of immense inspiration.

I will be always me and me; If someone has a problem with me, its their problem

Changing yourself for someone else seldom works, this is the only way out. of such a situation for me.

You may not be the Best, But You can always do Your Best

This is one I picked up last week. One of my favourite teachers (Alicekutty, our ex-HOD) said this to us in her farewell message. I am sure I will be using this one from now on. It has made an impression on me.

Hope you pick up something from the list and suggest some if you got any

Many people tend to believe that no matter what they do, their life is pre-set for them. And that their actions cannot change anything in their way.

I think that’s BS.

Think from God’s point of view for a second (assuming that there is a superior power). Is he setting up everything for you? If so why did he give us a brain that can think and make rational choices?

I do believe in the power of the mind and the teachings of ‘The Secret‘. When we are working on something, don’t we just stumble the people or resources we need? We make choices, and then our mind works for us. This brings whatever we need to us. I believe so.

Our lives are a sum total of the choices we have made. (~ Wayne Dyer). Our choices do have Consequences (~ Chaos Theory).

Fortunately or Unfortunately, Money has a considerable role in our Social Life. In spite of having pretty good bank balances and investments, I have seen people thinking about money all the time.

I am not talking about greedy people, they are not worth mentioning here. I am talking of those people who have decent earnings and good financial backup, but who do not still fell financially free.

Why is it important to be financially free?

Financial freedom is a big deal.

I felt the air of the above said freedom last year when my online ventures started bearing fruits. Having money meant I no longer had to ask anyone with fake explanations on why something is very important to me and why I should be given more money. Soon money lost its glory as the end goal in a process. Money just became the means to reach a more glorious goal.

In my view, having a good job, or a lot of inherited wealth wont make you free. Freedom is a state of mind.

So what’s the point?

One need to learn how to make money and find sources of money. For instance, if you know that you can make x amount of money in y number of days from what you already have (whether it be your skills, your investments, etc.), then that’s more freedom than having the same x amount of money in your bank.

In that case, you would be always confident that no matter what happens, you could always make that money when you need it.

If you can figure out how to make money from something that you cannot loose easily, you would feel the difference. You may loose your job, but if you learn how to employ your skills and talents (that you will probably never loose) you could be a better person.

P.S.: This is an un-tested version of my view, seeking advice and open to discussion.
