True Luxury

One of the greatest joys of life is to do great work. To do work that matters.

Great work has the potential to bring change. Your work might not change the world for everyone. Changing someone else’s world is just as good.

After all change begins with one. Like a cigarette butt that can burn down a whole forest.

Great work is just as tiring. Caffeine is often the drug of choice for doers. But that’s only enough to win the battle.

To win the war, there has to be a higher driving force. Often something very personal. An obsession. There is no room for right or wrong. It is what it is.

Personally I don’t think the reasons matter. If its selfish, let it be. Do it for yourself, just be clear on why you are doing it and be willing to go all the way.

Find What You Love And Let It Kill You.

[Source of the quote is debated, I always thought it was by Charles Bukowski]

Obsession wakes you up before your alarm goes off. It installs a sense of urgency. Makes you hustle. All you want to do is to do your work. Nothing else matters.

You will do whatever you have to do to feed your obsession. The late night shifts, the early morning sprints.

It’s one of life’s true luxuries. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. You will know when you find it. It will take charge and make you a prisoner.

Give in because it’s worth it.

  1. Great piece of writing brother. The quote does seem like Charles bukowski’s. Kind of resonates with one of his work titled “so you want to be a writer?”
